Residence Gretry

The architects specialising in façade renovation demonstrated their ability to make the best of a complex situation.

For this façade and terrace renovation project, the initial inspection revealed significant damage. Waterproofing defects at terrace level had caused deterioration of the structural concrete.

The soffits beneath the terraces showed numerous cracks, while vegetation was growing through the joints of the old tiling. In addition, stalactite-like deposits had begun to form in several areas.

The first stage involved extensive demolition work to remove the screeds and tiles from all the external terraces.

The concrete structure was then stripped back so that it could be repaired in accordance with EN 1504*.

Finally, a new PMMA liquid waterproofing membrane and a new tiled finish were installed to complete the renovation of the terraces.

*NBN EN 1504 refers to the standards governing products and systems used for the protection and repair of concrete structures.

However, our mission went beyond repairing the concrete.

We took advantage of this technical renovation to give the entire façade a fresh new appearance.

Plan9 proposed the installation of new largely glazed balustrades secured within a clamping system. This solution was made possible by anchoring them into the newly renovated concrete structure.

The façade was also repainted white, giving the entire residence a brighter and more contemporary appearance.
