Collège Saint-Quirin Entrance
Public - HUY 2013The return of nature
When the organising authority of Collège Saint-Quirin invited us to take part in the competition for the entrance on Rue Axhelière, a whole wave of teenage memories came rushing back for Vincent FANIEL.
Memories and emotions: Saint-Quirin meant classes during the week and scouts at the weekend, teachers and supervisors, chips on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Abbé DUCHENE’s Sprites, Abbé QUIRINY’s punishment pages, the chestnut trees, then the disappearance of those trees and the arrival of a sports hall, the caretaker, evenings out, girls…
Every stone, every wall, every square metre had its own story.
We wrote a new one: a modern and carefully detailed expression, with raw materials used almost as a metaphor, but also more secure space for pupils, benches for final-year students, a properly adapted manoeuvring area, and the return of trees — because nature means life.
Modern, understated, light, raw and carefully designed.
